My name is Nicole. I'm the founder of QUARTZ + COAL. 

Born and raised in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, in West Virginia, I observed my corner of the world comprised primarily of a unique blend of small, local business owners and industrial, corporate giants. In coal country, you learn hard work, due diligence, perseverance and economical extremes. Attending college with the children of mine owners, as well as, the children of coal miners, the stark comparisons were too evident to ignore.

I was brought up in the household of a small business owner. My father worked at the family owned company my grandfather started decades before I came along. The constant fluctuations in the oil & gas industry taught me more than I realized early on. Growing up, my admiration for the flexibility of my father's unique schedule, the opportunities to travel, and his availability to his family left quite an impression. 

It has always been my goal to be my own boss. QUARTZ + COAL is more than a business. It is a community growing to unite creative entrepreneurs who understand the hard work and dedication it takes to successfully build + grow a business.

Technology has opened up new levels of opportunity we still haven't been able to completely comprehend yet. Change is constant.
